Former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. has lashed out at his Mexican rival, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. The two countrymen are scheduled to collide on May 6th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. They have agreed to clash at a catch-weight of 164.5-pounds. Canelo, who holds the WBO junior middleweight title, is moving up from 154-pounds. Chavez Jr. is coming down from his last fighting weight of 168-pounds. During a conference call on Tuesday, Canelo complained that Chavez Jr. behaves like a child and is always saying "stupid things" about his career. Canelo lashed out and said the fan base of Chavez Jr. was entirely inherited from his famous father, Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. "I can not say what I think [about Canelo], because they are going to go off on a tangent, but it is not me who has criticized him. Just look at what he says and what he does. Facts speak, words are useless," Chavez Jr. told ESPN Deportes. "I can say a thousand things about him, but the facts are there. Look at who stated that he didn't belong at a certain weight [at 160-pounds] and at what weight he is fighting [in May]. The people saw who turned away [from Gennady Golovkin], who gave him a belt and who fought with a fighter [Amir Khan] who was not in his weight division. They are not things that I'm saying, they are things that are there and all the people and fans [are saying it]." "My fans are people who love [my family] for what we have done for the sport, my dad and I for almost 40 years. We never danced around or were singing songs or tried to be an artist, nor have we been dating women to gain fame. On the contrary, my fame is real, my fame is simply from boxing and is not due to anything else."
