Born Bernard Humphrey Hopkins, Jr. on January 15, 1965, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, US, he is the boxer to make a name for himself fighting in the middleweight class and to go on competing in the light heavyweight division. Being raised in the heart of the crime scene, young Hopkins ended up in prison at the age of 18. He was accused of nine charges and sentenced to 18 years imprisonment. But while serving his time, Hopkins developed a passion for boxing. After 5 years, Hopkins was released and he immediately turned to boxing leaving the life he had led behind.
