What few tickets that were made available for public sale for the May 2 Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Manny Pacquiao megafight at the MGM Grand Garden sold out in less than two minutes Thursday.

Approximately 500 of the 16,700 seats were sold to the general public. The rest are controlled by the two fighters and the MGM Grand, the host property for the fight. Tickets were priced from $1,500 to $7,500. There was a four-ticket limit per household.

No doubt, thousands of boxing fans were left disappointed and are angry at the promoters, the MGM and Ticketmaster, which handled the transactions. But for the fortunate few who managed to score seats, there was jubilation. Some fans claimed on various social media platforms there were no tickets ever made available to the public.

Within minutes, secondary ticket markets were posting seats for sale. Stubhub.com were listing seats from $5,270.25 per seat in Section 202 to $141,575.25 for a floor seat in Section E.

But even the lucky ones who managed to purchase a seat at face value through Ticketmaster will likely find themselves dealing with potential aggravation. No tickets are being mailed and tickets must be picked up at the Grand Garden box office’s will call windows and only the person who purchased the seats can pick up the tickets. According to Ticketmaster’s posted policy, will call will begin distribution of purchased tickets beginning Wednesday. Any tickets not claimed by 3 p.m. May 2 will be subject to release.

But that was only Part 1 of the ticket frenzy. Part 2 begins at 3 p.m. when approximately 50,000 tickets go on sale for the closed circuit television viewing of the fight. Those tickets will be $150 apiece plus handling fees and will be sold at the box office of the 10 MGM properties showing the fight as well as online through ticketmaster.com or by phone at 866-799-7711. There is an eight-ticket limit per household for the closed circuit telecast.

The MGM properties showing the fight on CCTV are the MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, Aria, Bellagio, Mirage, Monte Carlo, New York-New York, Circus Circus, Luxor and Excalibur.

Ticket information regarding the May 1 weigh-in at the Grand Garden will be released later today or Friday. Tickets will be $10 apiece. Fans will not be allowed into the weigh-in without a ticket.]
