Fightnews.com was informed by inside sources that Ricardo Mayorga has withdrawn from his scheduled bout on February 14 against unbeaten junior middleweight prospect Alfredo Angulo. The fight was scheduled to take place at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida. Fightnews spoke directly with Angulo, but unfortunately he didn’t know who he will face next nor did he know about “El Matador” pulling out. Sources say Mayorga got hurt during training and promoter Gary Shaw is trying to replace Mayorga with a suitable opponent instead of canceling the fight. No comment from the Mayorga camp.

Shaw was told that Mayorga may have suffered some injury in camp, but he's not exactly buying the story.

"I'm very disappointed. For the first time in his career, Ricard Mayorga has chickened out of a fight. That speaks volumes about Alfredo Angulo. At least 'Chicken Ala Arce' is showing up to fight Darchinyan, the 'Raging Bull,' on Saturday. Arce is not afraid of a Raging Bull, but a Matador was scared of 'The Dog'," Shaw said.

----------马丁内兹在08年10月和09年2月打过2场WBC154过渡冠军赛，后来转正了。但因为跟高威、帕维里克比赛，WBC154头衔被剥夺（从大帕那里拿的WBC160还在）。

WBC154头衔在今年4月（马丁内兹/帕维里克战后）到11月帕奎奥/马加里托战前的约7个月确实是空缺的。
