卡尔福气：“海耶的脚趾受伤不是比赛结果的决定因素”

WBC super-middleweight champion Carl Froch has claimed that David Haye’s broken toe should not be used as an excuse for his defeat to Wladimir Klitschko.

Froch, who first won the WBC title in 2008 after fighting Jean Pascal with a broken rib, was in Hamburg to support his friend Haye and said he didn’t think the injury was a ‘deciding factor’ in the result on the night.

‘Any broken bone is not ideal. To break your toe is going to hinder the way you’re walking or the way you’re moving around,’ Froch told TalkSport.

‘He’s talking about pushing off his right foot to land his big right hand which is correct, so ideally you don’t want to be fighting with any injury.

‘But I’ve fought with injuries myself and you put them to the back of your mind. With the adrenaline on the night and when the occasion gets hold of you, you do forget about the injury.

‘Only David knows how much of a problem the toe was and how much it was affecting him. I can’t say it’s a lame excuse because it’s not my toe that’s broken and it’s not me that’s fighting.

‘When you do hear it for the first time you think someone is taking the pee. But if David is injured and he’s got a bad toe he’s just letting people know.

‘I don’t think he’s using that as a full excuse. Everybody could see what was going off in there so maybe he shouldn’t have mentioned it but he just felt he’d let people know about it.

‘You can see why the fans are almost thinking what is he talking about, why has he even mentioned it. I can see that side of it. I don’t think that was a deciding factor in the outcome of the fight.’

“只有大卫自己知道受伤的脚趾对他有多大影响。我不能说这是一个蹩脚的借口，因为这不是我的比赛。”

“我不认为伤是一个完整的借口。每个人都可以看到在那里发生了什么事，所以也许大卫不应该提它，但可能他只是想人们知道这个事情。”

“我可以看到它的另一面。我不认为这是一个比赛结果的决定因素。”
