Heroes in the Final
Last night the 13th World Championship of Badminton for men’s single was held in Guangzhou between the two old opponents Lin Dan and Li Zongwei.
Before the bout, the world was concerned about who would be the winner of the final if the two would come into the final again as usual.
You know, after the London Olympics, Lin Dan disappeared from most of the matches at home and abroad, which almost made him lose the qualification from the championship, while Li Zongwei, the No1 player in the world, had not got any world title of championship, which made him very hungry.
Before the match, people were also guessing that Lin would take it easy for the match for he had got 17 world titles already, while Li had got none, and the hunger for the title would make Li fight to the last bullet, which would make the battle between them even fiercer than ever, and that would be what people would like to expect to watch.
The match came and lasted as usual as people had expected, which progressed almost the same as what they did in the recent years, that is, Li won the first game, Lin won the second, and then they came into contest of life and death in the last. History sometimes copies, and last night it did copy again, which once again made Li the role of a tragedy, in which when scored 17-20 lagging behind Lin, he hurt his right leg, and retired from the game eventually. A stretcher was called in and Lin helped to put his friend as well as opponent onto it.
Lin, of course is a hero for a tremendous recorder of 18 world titles of championship, and, in my opinion, Li is also a hero without any world title, because he plays the role who extends the spirit of badminton as well as technique everywhere in the world to the bottom of heart of every fans of this sport.
