Ponce starts with a jab that gets blocked. Now Ponce looks to the body with a left hook that doesn't land clean. Several hard shots come from Ponce who is putting a lot of heavy punches together very early in this fight. Uppercut land clean for Ponce. Jab lands to the body for Matias. Double left hand comes from Ponce. Jab lands for Ponce upstairs, who's thrown over 50 punches in the opening minute and a half. Uppercut lands for Ponce, then a some body shots. Right hand lands over the top for Ponce. Matias lands a left hand on the inside. Ponce throws nearly 100 punches in the opening round.

Matias comes out to meet Ponce quickly and the two fighters pick up where they left off by exchanging. Another hard left hook lands clean for Matias. Ponce lands a couple of his own at close range. Left hook lands downstairs for Ponce. Ponce warned about hitting behind the head. Left hook lands upstairs for Matias. Left hooks from Matias are still landing pretty well. Left hook lands upstairs for Matias and Ponce wants to throw one of his own. Matias countering at close range. Now Ponce tries to press Matias to the ropes and throw some of his own punches. I think Matias landed the most effective shots of the round.
