四区世界拳击冠军埃里克·莫拉莱斯表示，他支持前对手曼尼·帕奎奥击败美国次中量级选手米基·加西亚。

Four-division world boxing champion Erik Morales expressed his support for former rival Manny Pacquiao over American welterweight contender Mikey Garcia.

The Pacquiao-Garcia bout has been the talk of the town recently as several reports stated that the Filipino boxing legend is leaning towards the American challenger aside from undefeated WBO welterweight king Terence Crawford.

And Morales, who clashed with Pacquiao thrice capped with “The Grand Finale” in November 2006, is rooting for his former opponent.

“Mikey Garcia is a great fighter. Manny Pacquiao is very, very strong though. Pacquiao shows that there are levels to this game. I think that experience will win out and Pacquiao wins,” said Morales, as quoted by boxingscene.com.

This wasn’t the first time though that the Mexican great showed support for Pacquiao. In February, Morales also believed that Pacquiao would finish American youngster Ryan Garcia in two rounds.

But the supposed fight with the younger Garcia went into naught weeks ago after the unbeaten WBC interim lightweight titleholder dropped his interest for the “dream fight.”

It is still unknown when will Pacquiao, 42, make his much-awaited return in the boxing ring.

But per a long-time friend of Pacquiao, who requested anonymity, earlier disclosed to the Bulletin-Tempo that the “Fighting Senator” eyes to come back in May.

The older Garcia (40-1, 30 KOs) last saw action in February last year with a unanimous decision win against Jessie Vargas, another former opponent of Pacquiao, while the Filipino boxer-turned-senator has not fought since scoring a split decision win over Thurman last July 2019.

Pacquiao (62-7-2, 39 KOs) was stripped of his WBA super welterweight belt and was declared “champion in recess” due to inactivity in late January.
